Flooring appointment

Can't believe it's been a month since this blog started and we signed the purchase agreement.  When will we finally start to build...

Well we had our flooring appointment last Wednesday (June 11th).  I went there with the mindset that I wasn't spending more than the $6,900 flooring credit provided by Ryan Homes. Yep, that didn't happen. We're getting hardwood in the foyer, powder room, mud room, kitchen and morning room. That came to $7,185. Having already overspent what we planned, we decided to do standard carpet elsewhere downstairs and in the upstairs bedroom.

Next, it was time to pick the flooring for the master bathroom.  I naively assumed ceramic tile would be included with the $12,000 “luxury” owner's bath upgrade. Nope, vinyl is standard. We upgraded to ceramic floors and upgraded the ceramic around the tub and in the shower. This was $1,695. For the other two bathrooms, we decided to stick to the standard vinyl and tile combo.  Really, the decision was forced by then cause unfortunately we don't have a limitless supply of cash.

Pictures of our upgrade selections are below. I don't remember what the ceramic tile and listello accent is called in the owner's bedroom.  For the hardwood floors, we selected the 3 1/4" Dundee Cherry.  We selected the Scott's SQ Maple Espresso cabinets for the kitchen, three bathrooms and the laundry room. We selected the New Caledonia granite counter tops for the kitchen.

Can't wait until we break ground. Supposedly the building permits should be approved sometime this week and we're expecting the loan approval next week as well. I'm tired of all this waiting - I'm ready to get the ball rolling!

Felt like this choice was a gamble - anxious to see how it turns out.

New Caledonia kitchen counter top is just above cabinet to the left.
